Vaishali Desai is Manmohan Desai’s grand niece
I know her. Vaishali Desai. Ever since she took those baby steps to modelling and later acting. On one of those photo shoots for the publication I was working for at the time, she said that she was famous director Manmohan Desai’s grand niece. I was even more taken aback because Manmohan Desai is the also the name that catapulted Amitabh Bachchan to ultimate stardom with such super hits as Amar Akbar Anthony, Mard, Coolie, Naseeb and so on.
I asked her if she’s getting into films anytime soon and she said, she was waiting for the right offer. I wondered if it was just a wishful thinking and this was more than five years ago.
Today, she has proved herself. Her film Kal Kissne Dekha is set to release. She’s starring alongside Kareena Kapoor and Jackie Bhagnani who is the son of mighty producer Vashu Bhagnani. However, her journey has only just begun. The film’s success will either make her or break her. I am watching.
Coming to her film, I didn’t know about it until I saw her effervescent face while channel surfing. It was the promo of the film. Now there is talk that she has been sidelined for Kareena and Jackie. Rightly so. Until Vaishali proves herself on the big screen. No matter who you are linked with, if you don’t bring home the bacon, you are as good as a struggler on the street.
I wish you luck, Vaishali. May you make your late grand father proud! May you find your own Manmohan Desai like Amitabh did in his hey days!
